Welsh Rarebite Dog Recipe

Welsh Rarebite Dog Recipe

Preparation:

  1. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and sauté quickly, browning them slightly. Store.
  2. Melt the left over butter in a heavy saucepan over medium low heat. Add flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the flour is barely golden. Gradually whisk milk into flour. When the sauce has begun to thicken, add Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce seems too thick, add a little more milk to thin it.
  3. Stir ham and mushrooms into sauce. Add half the cheese and mix until well combined. Put kibble in a dog bowl and pour cheese mixture over it. Sprinkle remaining cheese over the top and serve. You can make 1 quart of rarebit and kibble with this recipe.
