Rumanian Dog Stew with Meatballs Recipe
Preparation:
- Place marrow bone in stock pot, add water, and let it boil over high heat. Reduce the heat and simmer the bone, covered, for 1 ˝ hours, skimming foam from top every once in a while. Add the carrots and parsnip to the pot and cook for 30 minutes longer.
- Melt butter in a skillet, add onions, and sauté over medium heat until onions are soft and translucent. Add the onions to the soup and cook about 15 minutes or until the meatballs are prepared.
- Beat eggs lightly In a bowl; add the beef, bread crumbs, and salt and pepper to the taste and mix well. Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs, drop them into the soup, and simmer for 45 minutes longer. Serve over kibble, toasted bread, or steamed grains. Top with yogurt, if wished, and sprinkle with parsley. You can make 5 quarts of stew with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 marrow bones
- 4 quarts water
- 4 carrots cut into 1-inch slices
- 2 parsnips cut into 1-inch slices
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 onions, thickly sliced
- 4 large eggs
- 24 ounces ground beef
- 2 tablespoons bread crumbs
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Kibble, toasted bread, or steamed grains
- Yogurt
- Chopped parsley
Note: The vegetables and meatballs in this stew are improved by the rich flavor imparted by a large marrow bone, which should be discarded after cooking. Your dog will feast instead on vitamin-rich parsnips and carrots and delicate meatballs and won't miss gnawing on the forbidden bone.

3. An attendant should be available 24 hours a day and a veterinarian should be on call at every hour.
4. The kennel should provide you with the brand of food served and substitute a diet of your choice, at your request.
5. Exercise outside of the run and human contact should be given daily.
