Rice Porridge Dog Recipe
Preparation:
- Bring rice and water to a boil over medium heat in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Lessen heat and seethe rice, covered, 30 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil; add bok Choy or chard and scallions and stir-fry
- For 2 minutes. Move the stir-fried vegetables to pan with rice. Add chopped meat, ginger, tamari, and sesame seed oil; return the rice mixture to a boil over high heat, stir. Reduce heat and cook mixture 30 minutes more. You can make 9 quarts with this recipe.
Ingredients: 4 cups of uncooked rice 6 quarts of water 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil 4 cups 1-inch pieces of Bok Choy or Swiss chard 4 scallions, finely chopped 2 cups of chopped cooked meat or poultry 2 teaspoons of grated fresh ginger 2 tablespoons of tamari sauce 2 tablespoons of sesame seed oil
Note: This porridge has an Oriental savor and is perfect for cold mornings. You can prepare a large batch to parcel out during the week—just heat up the rice in a double boiler. To tempt fastidious eaters, pour a little Chicken Stock or Basic Dog Broth over the porridge. The rice base makes this dish easily tolerated by dogs with digestive problems.
