Poodle Polenta Dog Recipe
Preparation:
- Boil water in the bottom of a double boiler. Bring 2 cups water and the salt to a boil in top of the double boiler over direct heat. Add cornmeal slowly, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon. Remove pan from the heat and set over the boiling water. Add milk and pepper and cook, covered, over boiling water for 30 minutes, stir occasionally. Stir in 2 cups of cheese and remove from the heat.
- Moisten a flat dish with cold water, spread out cornmeal mixture on it, and allow cooling.
- Preheat oven to 400° F. and oil a baking sheet.
- Cut polenta into 2-inch squares and place on baking sheet. Sprinkle remaining cheese over polenta and bake until cheese is melted and lightly browned, about 10 minutes. You can make 36 polenta squares with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups cornmeal
- 2 cups milk
- ½ teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 3 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Note: This simple recipe is evocative of the Italian maize flour dish.
Jet Setters Most airlines will permit a dog in the cabin if the kennel can be squeezed under the seat (maximum height, 8 inches). The catch is that no other carry-on luggage is allowed and the invitation does not extend to commuter flights. Of course, seeing-eye dogs in harness are allowed in the cabin.
