Hot Open-Faced Sardine Sandwiches Dog Recipe
Preparation: Preheat broiler. Toast bread. Spread one side of each slice with mayonnaise and mustard. Arrange the sardines over toast. Sprinkle with onion and cheese and heat under broiler until cheese is melted. Cut into bite-size pieces and serve. You can make 12 sandwiches with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 6 slices bread
- Mayonnaise
- Dijon mustard
- 2 cans sardines with bones, drained
- 1 onion, minced
- 2/3 cup grated Cheddar, Jarlsberg, or Muenster cheese
- Dash paprika
Note: Sardines are an excellent source of calcium and protein and practical to take while traveling. Toy dogs love these delicate hot sandwiches.
