When You Leave Home

The ability to store food is one reason why you can leave your hamster for three or four days without worrying. Give it fresh water, make certain the cage has just been cleaned, and check the seed/food supply (and top it off, if needed). If you're worried about sudden temperature changes in your house or apartment, the cage is a self-contained unit that can be handed to a friend or neighbor.
