Feeding schedules
Feeding schedules should be adjusted to the age and growth rate of your animal. Most juvenile lizards have a very rapid growth rate and thus require frequent feedings to build muscle and skeleton. They should be fed every 1 to 2 days. After growth slows down and levels off (between one and two years in most species), feeding should decrease to three times a week. Females in breeding, particular1y those laying several c1utches of eggs during a breeding season, should be placed back on a one to two day schedule. Care should be given to avoid obesity. A plump, rotund lizard is not a healthy lizard. Such animals may be incapable of breeding and may be destined to a shortened lifespan. Use your good judgment and/ or seek the advice of an experienced herpetoculturist.
