Handling and Feeding
Box turtles are not meant to be handled; they are best regarded as display animals capable of a certain level of interaction. In time, most box turtles learn to come to a food dish when food is offered. They may even become fearless enough to feed from their owner's hand. Individuals may also display various signs of intelligence; some may follow their owners when hungry, while others
may stand on their owner's shoe or display other signs of association when they are hungry.
Quick Tip
As with many other animals, the amount of time and attention you invest in your box turtle(s) determines the type of relationship you develop.
