Dog Dumplings Dog Recipe
Preparation:
- Melt the butter in skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and parsley and sauté 5 minutes longer, stir frequently. Scrape mixture into a mixing bowl.
- Moisten the bread crumbs with about 1 cup of hot tap water, or enough to make a paste in a small bowl. Work the bread crumb mixture into liver and vegetables. Add the eggs, mix well, and cover; permit mixture to firm up 30 minutes.
- Moisten your hands and form a dumpling mixture into balls of about 1 inch in diameter, or drop dumplings by teaspoons into about 5 quarts boiling stock or broth and cook, uncovered, 30 minutes. You can make about 72 dumplings with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped Italian parsley
- 4 cups finely chopped beef or chicken livers
- ˝ teaspoon marjoram
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 cups dried bread crumbs
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Chicken Stock or Basic Dog Broth
Note: These dumplings are wonderful served with their broth over kibble. The way they look when they're formed by hand into lovely symmetrical balls is very nice, but your pet will enjoy them just as much if you drop teaspoons of the dumpling mixture directly into the stock.
