Basic, Crunchy, Teeth Cleaning Biscuits Recipe

Preparation:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400° F. and butter a large baking sheet.
  2. Mix the whole wheat and all-purpose flours, 1 cup wheat germ, the milk powder, and salt. Mix together the stock and oil in a small bowl. Place one-third of the flour mixture in a mixing bowl; add one-third of the stock mixture to it and stir until the dough is well joined. Keep adding the flour and stock mixtures by thirds, stir it until all the ingredients are well mixed.
  3. Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead it well, add additional all-purpose flour as necessary, until the dough is easier to mix, but still soft. Break off the pieces of dough the size of a walnut, roll them in wheat germ, and place them on the prepared baking sheet at about 1 inch apart.
  4. Flatten the biscuits with a fork. Bake them for 15 to 20 minutes or until they are completely baked. Turn off the heat and let the biscuits harden in the oven for several hours. Store the covered biscuits in the refrigerator or freezer. You can make about 48 biscuits with this recipe.

Ingredients:
2 cups of whole wheat flour
2 cups of unbleached all-purpose flour
1 cup of wheat germ plus additional for dredging biscuits
½ cup of nonfat dry milk powder
2 cups of Chicken Stock
6 tablespoons of corn oil
4 tablespoons of chopped parsley
1 teaspoon of salt

Note:
A dog's teeth are almost self-cleaning. Even though the dog’s teeth are not prone to cavities, they tend to accumulate tartar. Crunchy dog biscuits and crisp, briefly-cooked fresh vegetables will help avoid tartar formation and keep your dog's teeth bright and shiny.
