Crickets, Mealworms & Cockroaches

For crickets, mealworms & cockroaches

When you first obtain the insects, keep them without food or water for a day. The idea is to make them hungry so that they readi1y feed on what you are going to offer them. On the next day, offer them one of the following: (1) pulverized rodent chow supplemented and blended with calcium carbonate or calcium gluconate; (2) tropical fish food flakes llÚxed with high protein baby cereal flakes and calcium carbonate, or; (3) ground oatmeal, barley, other grains, sesame seed with calcium carbonate. Offer this to insects one out of three feedings. The rest of the time, gut load insects with a variety of fresh foods, preferably high in calcium. Vary the vegetables offered: mustard greens, collard greens, kale, cooked green beans, chopped llÚxed vegetables, Chinese cabbage, grated squashes, grated and/or cooked carrots. Light1y sprinkle greens with calcium cargonate and llÚX in.

As a source of water. vary the selection by giving slices of

orange, the skin of yellow squash, pieces of carrot (grated raw or cooked).

Feed the insects to lizards on the following day.
