Creamy Sweet Potatoes Dog Recipe
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Scrub the potatoes, prick them on top with a fork, wrap in foil, and bake 1 ½ hours, or until soft.
- Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat just before the potatoes are done. Add cream, salt and pepper to taste, and nutmeg, and heat through without oiling. Keep the sauce warm.
- Slice potatoes into rounds, cutting through bottom skin. Place the potato slices in a bowl, pour sauce over them, and toss gently. You can make 6 cups of sweet potatoes with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 6 large sweet potatoes
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Note: Most dogs love sweet potatoes, skins and all. Sweet potatoes nutritionally provide fiber and potassium, just as white potatoes do, and they also have a surprisingly large quantity of vitamins A and C. Yams can be substituted if sweet potatoes are not available.
