Chop-Licker's Liver Sauce Dog Recipe

Chop-Licker’s Liver Sauce Dog Recipe

Preparation:

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in small skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken livers and sauté until livers are cooked through, for about 10 minutes. Transfer livers to food processor or blender and purée, adding enough stock to make a soft mixture.
  2. Blend cornstarch and the remaining stock. Heat the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch mixture, chives, and salt to taste, and cook until the sauce is smooth and thickened. Add puréed liver and mix well. Add water if necessary to the thin sauce. Serve over kibbles or grains. You can make about 4 cups of sauce with this recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups chicken livers
  • 2 cups Chicken Stock
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 teaspoons chopped chives
  • Salt

Note:
"Chops" is a colloquial speech expression for lips. To "lick one's chops" indicates delight as delicious food is savored. Some pets carry their enjoyment to an extreme: One of our cats holds the house record for chop licking, with more than fifty licks for one piece of chicken! This liver sauce is assured to create a frenzy of chop licking in your house.
