Cabbage & Kibble with Beef Sauce Dog Recipe

Cabbage & Kibble with Beef Sauce Dog Recipe

Preparation:

  1. Place the onions, cabbage, and peas in a steamer basket and steam, covered, over boiling water for 10 minutes, or until tender. Transfer the vegetables to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Place the beef in a cold skillet and cook over medium heat until crumbly, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon while the vegetables are cooking,. Remove the beef from the skillet with a slotted spoon and reserve. If there is very little fat left in the skillet, add butter and melt over medium-low heat; stir in the flour and cook, stir constantly, until very light brown. Add the broth slowly, stir constantly, and cook over medium heat until the gravy has thickened, stirring up any browned bits on the bottom of the skillet.
  3. Add the Worcestershire sauce and the cooked beef.
  4. Add gravy to the vegetables and toss to mix well. Make a small bed of kibble on a plate and spoon the vegetables and gravy on top. Serve warm. You can make 2 quarts of vegetable stew with this recipe.
