Beany Liver Casserole Dog Recipe
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350° F. and grease a 4-quart casserole.
- Dredge the liver with flour, and then sprinkle with a grinding of pepper. Place the liver and the kidney beans in a prepared casserole. Strew the onions, green beans, and carrots over the liver and beans. Sprinkle the millet over all and pour in enough broth to cover all the ingredients. Cover the casserole and bake for 1 hour. Check from time to time to see that the liquid has not cooked away; add broth or water as needed. Serve over the chunks of bread. You can make 3 quarts of stew with this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 16 ounces of beef liver, cut into 1-inch pieces
- All-purpose flour
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 cups of cooked kidney beans
- 2 chopped onions
- 2 cups of green beans, cut into 1-inch lengths
- 2 coarsely chopped carrots
- 2 cups of millet
- 6 cups of Basic Dog Broth
- Bread
Note: Millet is a grain packed with vitamin B1, a vitamin that is usually lost to heat and storage in most commercial foods. There is a theory that this vitamin contains an active agent that helps keep fleas away.
